Houston Area Natural Beauty

Not everyone has the opportunity to walk or drive to see all the natural beauty that the Houston area is blessed with, so the blog for this site will present a new plant every day, together with information and growing tips.

About the plants in the photo on the right:

  • blue flowers:  bluebonnets, our Texas state flower
  • red flowers: red lupines, the same or similar species to the bluebonnets
  • pink flowers: showy evening primrose

These were growing by the roadside along I-290, about an hour west of Houston.  They are strictly spring flowers, best seen in March and April.
